Alfama Restaurant, NYC with Michelle Pereira

Its been awhile since I've posted anything on my blog but so much has been going on that I want to catch you up on what I've been up to... In this post I will share with you how I began the new year.

Since meeting Michelle Pereira in Gloucester, Massachusetts back in October, we haven't lost touch. Since she lives in New York City, we decided to meet for dinner one Wednesday night where we knew that a restaurant in New York's West Village, Alfama Restaurant, has live Fado. The house Fadistas were my longtime friends Elizabeth Maria and Cora D'Abreu and the guitarists were my mentors from the beginning of my career, Alberto Resende and Francisco Chuva. Michelle and I enjoyed the cozy ambient and she shared with me her experience as a Fadista singing in Fado houses in Lisbon, performing on Broadway, and her plans for the future as an artist. The other Fadistas persuaded us to sing so we sang our Fados and I also had the pleasure of singing Maria Lisboa with her.We spent the rest of our evening conversing and sharing our stories about Fado alongside Sr. Chuva who later joined us at our table while we ate our delicious meals.

I had a great time and hope to return to Alfama Restaurant soon on a Wednesday night!!
